Michael J. Marcin has over ten years experience in all areas of intellectual property law, including patent, trademark, copyright and related issues. Mr. Marcin primarily concentrates on patent related issues for prosecution, counseling, litigation and licensing purposes.
Mr. Marcin’s practice includes experience in all areas of patent prosecution including the writing of original applications, reexamination, and reissue practice. He engages in all phases of complex patent litigation from the filing of the complaint through the appeals process. He also counsels clients on matters such as the development of intellectual property policies and procedures and the scope of intellectual property rights including both the client’s rights and the possible infringement of the rights of others. Furthermore, Mr. Marcin has worked with clients to determine whether patents were essential, commercially relevant or nonessential to technical standards issued by industry standards groups.
His experience encompasses a diverse mix of technologies including computer hardware and software, telecommunications and wireless equipment and networks, semiconductor devices, Internet services, business methods, automotive technology, quality assurance and inspection equipment and consumer electronics.
Prior to entering the legal profession, Mr. Marcin worked for seven years as an Instrumentation and Control Engineer, including six years at Raytheon Corporation. He was involved in a variety of projects relating to the installation or upgrade of control system automation equipment.
Mr. Marcin lives in Shrewsbury, NJ with his wife and three children.
